Meet Instinct 👋

Instinct Science is the AI leader in veterinary medicine — and we’re just getting started. Our platform combines a modern, cloud-native EMR with real-time clinical decision support and applied AI to transform how veterinary teams practice. Nowhere is that transformation more visible than in ScribbleVet.

Product Focus: ScribbleVet

ScribbleVet is our AI-powered scribe, built to eliminate one of the biggest drivers of veterinary burnout: documentation. What used to take veterinarians two hours at the end of a long day now takes twenty minutes. Hundreds of clinics rely on Scribble daily to generate high-quality medical records for thousands of patients.

This is not a side project. It’s a high-growth, AI-native product with real revenue, real users, and massive upside. We’re early enough to build from first principles — but far enough along to have strong product-market fit and customer love.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who wants to push applied AI into real-world healthcare workflows — and own meaningful problems end-to-end.

At Instinct Science, we believe in leading with compassion. Our team, our customers, and their patients and clients are the foundation of everything we do. Our culture is guided by our U.C.A.R.E. values, which serve as our daily compass:

  • Urgency: We move with speed because our mission is too important to wait. Urgency means prioritizing high-impact work, making timely decisions, and being highly responsive to our customers, partners, and fellow employees.
  • Customer First: We’re our customers’ (and this profession’s) biggest fans. We put them first and obsess over helping them solve their challenges.
  • Act with Grace, Not Teeth: We treat people with kindness, humor, humility, and assume good intent. We ask what we would want if we were in the other person’s shoes.
  • Right Things, Right Reasons: We take ownership of all tasks, big and small. When we make mistakes, we own them, fix them quickly, and learn.
  • Excellence is in our DNA: We hold ourselves and each other to high standards because our work is too important to do otherwise.

If these values speak to you, you might be a good fit for our Senior React Native Engineer job.

A Sneak Peek of Your Role 🔭

This role is remote (US-based) and embedded directly within the ScribbleVet product team.

As a Senior React Native Engineer, you’ll own the mobile experience end-to-end — from designing intuitive AI-assisted workflows to optimizing performance in real clinical environments. You’ll build and refine the React Native + Expo apps that veterinarians use during live appointments, where reliability, speed, and usability are mission-critical.

You won’t just implement tickets. You’ll help define how AI shows up on mobile — how prompts, edits, voice capture, visual diffs, and structured medical data feel seamless and trustworthy in a high-stakes setting.

This is high-autonomy, high-impact work.

Why Join Instinct Now?
We're at an inflection point. We've proven product-market fit, and we're scaling fast. The next 18 months will define whether we become the platform every vet clinic uses or just another tool in the drawer.

If you join now, you'll:

  • Shape core product decisions while we're still small enough to pivot quickly
  • Work on greenfield projects that will serve tens of thousands of users
  • Help build the engineering culture and practices for a team that will 10x

What You’ll Do 🐱‍💻

You’ll own meaningful product surfaces from discovery to production:

  • Design and build high-performance React Native + Expo applications
  • Create intuitive, real-time AI-assisted workflows for clinical environments
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers (Elixir + GraphQL) to design efficient data flows
  • Improve performance, offline behavior, and reliability under real-world constraints
  • Partner with product, design, and veterinarians to rapidly prototype and iterate
  • Elevate code quality, testing practices, and mobile architecture standards
  • Mentor other engineers and shape scalable mobile development patterns

You’ll be measured by real-world outcomes: usability during appointments, reduced documentation time, and trust in AI-generated records.

Who You Are 🐱‍💻

You might thrive here if:

  • You’ve built and shipped production-grade React Native apps
  • You care deeply about user experience and product craft
  • You enjoy working at the intersection of AI and thoughtful UX
  • You prefer ownership over assigned tasks
  • You’re energized by ambiguity and fast iteration
  • You want your work to meaningfully improve people’s lives

Must Haves

  • Strong (3+ years) production level experience with React Native (Expo experience preferred)
  • Experience shipping and maintaining production mobile applications
  • Deep understanding of mobile performance, state management, and debugging
  • Experience integrating APIs (GraphQL preferred)
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy in a remote environment
  • Strong product intuition and communication skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience building AI-assisted or LLM-powered interfaces
  • Experience designing mobile workflows involving audio, real-time updates, or complex forms
  • Familiarity with Elixir or strong backend collaboration experience
  • Early-stage startup experience
  • Strong UX/design sensibility

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
